Not buying the BS on this Board

I'm sure Woodard is great at what he does, but Help me out here, you fire a coach with a contract, agree to give him 100% of his buy out but he has to coach out the season. These are all things that could have been done at the end of the season, while the current coach is coaching his butt off and recruiting his butt off. This also wouldn't stop him from interviewing coaches. This seems to be a much stronger position to me. Now you have, players quitting, recruits changing and coaches who don't care and are applying for new jobs. But, according to the rant this is brilliant. BS.

Th rantards are easily impressed. We are losing recruits and players....
The way the firing is being handled is pathetic and weak. Either shite or get off the pot.

Who was going to be interim?
O staying as interim was literally the best option. It's not "brilliant", but necessity because of O's awful roster and staff management.
Players and recruits quitting/not coming would have happened after O got fired regardless.
You think anyone is saying "man, this coaching change at LSU...if they had just fully cut ties with Coach O, I would be out there playing/still committed right now." Get real.
I would have preferred to find a way to give him less than his full buyout, but if money is no object (e.g. a booster or two footed the bill), giving him his full buyout looks better from an optics perspective ("LSU keeps its word, even if things don't work out.")

You just let O keep coaching, no changes until after the year. This way is foolish.

Look how awesome its working.
Players leaving, recruits decommiting, might lose Howard.
Its a shite show.
Anyone saying that no one would take the interim is an idiot.

Anyone but O. He’s damaging the brand every time he opens his mouth.

This.
I didn’t read anything after

You think a single recruit who decommitted/took other visits *wouldn't* have done so if O weren't interim, even though they *committed* while O was the full time HC?
And you have the nerve to call other people idiots? I respect the audacity.

Yes.
They all take their visits all the time.
You don’t know much about the coaching search or recruiting I see.

Woodward gets insane protection here for no other reason than he’s “one of us” and made a few hires that haven’t born any fruit yet.

It doesn’t take much to be better than Alleva.

I believe you're misreading what I wrote.
Not a single recruit would have done anything differently in a world where someone other than O was interim than what they are doing now.
Howard was going to take other visits once O was fired regardless who was interim.
Tolan was going to flirt with FSU regardless of who was interim.
Anderson was going to Bama regardless of who was interim.
O being interim is irrelevant to how recruits have acted.
The specter of a coaching change is driving much of this. The interim decision is not.

You’re right, I did, I apologize. Yes.

I am not as smitten with Woodward as some others are.
Anyone can fill in a blank check.
He either bags Riley or Fickell or he fails and settles.

If you wait until the end of the year you are playing catch-up to USC and other programs that fire coaches mid-year. I agree O should be gone but who coaches? Daronte? Maybe.
With early signing there is now a lot more pressure. We'll probably take a short-term hit but (hopefully) get a great coach. I include Riley, Jimbo, and Aranda at least as "great coaches."

Sometimes I see posts like this and wonder how the poster made it alive to the age where they're to type full sentences on a message board. Like is there no intelligence minimum for staying alive?

Who on staff would you have take over for the rest of the year? O is the only one with any experience.

Wut?
Fickell doesn’t want to come here. It’s possible Riley neither. Not sure how that equates to failing, but okay.

We're all just screwing around waiting for them to announce it

As you know other coaches have been fired and others will be fired at the end of the season, I believe Woodard is getting ahead of the coaching carousel to be first inline so to say, and by paying O off by his contract it is letting potential coaches know that LSU will make it right if things go south during their tenure as coach.
