They are already saying that a one loss SEC team (LSU, UGA, Bama, or Florida specifically) will be in the BCS title game over USC due to last nights loss. Guess this also means that OSU doesn't get to be beat for the 3rd year in a row by an SEC team.

We all already know that but I felt like posting it for the USC trolls here.

No it doesn't. If tOSU runs the rest of their schedule, they still have a loss to a high-ranked team, which is much better than a loss to Oregon State.

If both tOSU and USC finish the season with 1 loss, tOSU should finish ahead of USC.

Yea but USC losing to Oregon after beating OSU does not bode well for them. I am no BCS guru but would that not hurt their SOS a little as well? I think we would see Oklahoma or Texas in there with one loss vs OSU again.

OSU won't finish with 1 loss. they will have 1 of 2 options

a. playing boeckman and having no offense

b. playing pryor and being subject to a few freshmen meltdowns

PSU is a better team
Wisconsin may be a better team
and doesn't OSU play Illinois @ IL?

SOS isn't directly factored into the BCS anymore. Pollsters tend to keep it in mind, and it's intrinsic in the computers, but there's no direct component. While every USC loss does hurt the tOSU strength of schedule, USC will still finish in the top 10-15 at the lowest, which is a respectable loss. In addition, tOSU still has to get through Penn State and Wisconsin which are both very good teams in their own right.

Depends on who the loss is to. If the Texas loss is to Oklahoma, they'll still have a shot. But if it's a middle of the road Big 12 team like Texas A&M, the computers will look more favorably on tOSU who only lost to USC.

it depends on who the SEC team loses to

if LSU or UF, for example, finish with 1 loss (say to either UF or LSU) and then they go on to win it all? no way OSU getting dominated by USC is "better"

I'm speaking with the assumption that the 1 loss SEC team is automatically in the BCS title game

because now that USC lost.. that's a 95%+ certainty

eta: and that 1 loss could be to an FCS school and the 1 loss SEC team would still make it

USC's loss helped out a lot of teams, which for some reason I am happy for them, too. Maybe it was b/c several ESPNers were annoiting USC the greatest collge team ever after the beat OSU.

That loss last night was not anywhere near respectable. Oregon was 1-2. It is the same as losing to Stanford last year. I see what you are saying about tOSU but I disagree. I think a Big 12 team no matter who the loss is to will be in over tOSU

don't forget about

a. a Big12 team with 0-1 loss
b. an ACC team with 0 losses (Wake?)
c. a Big East team with 0 losses (USF)
