Unsweetened is absolutely the norm in NOLA. I saw an Alton Brown show where a local woman was drinking iced tea. He was so confident that, because this was "the South", it would have to be very sweet.

Kind of embarrassed himself. At least they didn't cut it out of the final show.

I think it’s the norm in restaurants throughout south Louisiana, but many offer a choice between sweet and unsweetened. Visitors do seem to assume that we are all sweet tea drinkers because we’re in the south.

I do like to add Splenda to my unsweetened tea, though.

Nobody around here uses Lipton?
