Why would one go back and I doubt they make good on a deliberate action.

It depends on the company and what your employment agreement is. I'd recommend getting as much in writing as possible. Companies are sloppy over this right now and if you can't get a job back, having documentation will help a lot if you want to explore legal options.

Why would anyone return to a job that terminated them because of their vaccination status?
ETA: Pensions are no where near a good enough reason, in my opinion.

If they did hire you back, you can bet your arse that you lose tenure with regard to your retirement etc.
You'll start from zero like a new hire. Like someone else stated, and even if it's on your exit interview, try to get a statement on the books and/or something pertaining to rehire if the mandate is lifted.

If a company decided that I was incapable of making health decisions for myself, why on Earth would I decide to return to them in the future. It's on them to replace me. I'm not about to help them.

There is a worker shortage right now. If you have marketable skills and work ethic you can get a better job than the one you had before.
