Meh. Did the Grove, checked the box. It’s underwhelming. Was legit surprised at how small the area is. The Square has a few bars and restaurants. That’s about it for Oxford.
If you checked that box 5+ years ago you won’t recognize Oxford now.
The square on Friday and Saturday will have covers.. For LSU week in 2019 I think the library was around 60-80. it was ok, but for 4 married guys you could try blind pig, Funky’s for some Daiquiris ( don’t walk out with your drink. I made that mistake), the newly expanded Growler, Oxford grill house , city bar above city grocery, or penny bar below moe’s. Everything will be packed more than likely. Which is Gameday in the South.
If you want the grove experience you have to get friendly with Ole Miss fans. There are quite a few thrown together tailgates, but some very well thought out, lavish tents as well. The latter will have a nice spread of food that isn’t cold chicken. They too enjoy having people over but you won’t just meet them at the grove typically especially for a 2:30 game. Try the night before at one of the bars listed.
Sunday -
BBB- overrated. Like most places it will be packed. You could get drinks next door at snack bar while you wait though
For brunch try a reservation at city grocery, wine bar, grill house, ect.

haven’t been in a few years but every time I’ve been, the campus police were huge dicks about “open containers”. Apparently you can walk around with a Yeti cup full of straight bourbon but if you have a beer in a can or bottle they will make you pour it out.
It hasn’t changed. You need a solo cup or pour you drink in a tent. Watch out for thriving ole Miss students. Lock your ice chest if you can.

Blind Pig is good and not as well known to people from out of town. Also, Tallahatchie Gourmet, below Neilson's, is good. Any where nice on The Square has been booked for months. Proud Larry's has good bar food. There is a new place called Lamar Yard that is not on The Square that is good. The Groove is overrated but worth a visit if you have never been. As noted, it is not a big area so it gets very crowded quickly. There are some shuttles run by the city if you park by the high school. They will tow very quickly if you don't park in the designated spots. Hope you have fun. Geaux Tigers!

I thought their campus was decent and nice, but it was small and The Grove sucked arse, as well as their football stadium. The Square has some good bars though. Overall it's okay.

Get to the square around 3:00 on Friday. It will be a zoo, but will be a great atmosphere.
My go to is 3:00 on Friday head to City Grocery balcony bar (not the restaurant). Get you a table on the balcony and enjoy.
Dinner Friday on the square, if you have a big crew, then Boure is a great option (kinda like the chimes).
Inside bar upstairs City Grocery is good if its just you and the lady.
Proud larrys is great, but will be packed. This spot is great after the game on Saturday. Had a few beers here w Stanford Steve 2 years ago.
Saturday - Get up early. You could try and hit BBB on your way into town if you want a good breakfast. Or get to AJAX at opening time for a great meat and three lunch.
Then head to the Grove. Hopefully you have some friends with a spot. And, may want someone to drop you a pin for their location. Very difficult to locate a tailgate in there if you don't know where your going.
REMEMBER OPEN CONTAINER WILL GET YOU A TICKET (I've gotten two).
Coffee at Bottletree is a good option either Saturday AM or Sunday before you leave.
And, the Library really is a must see. I would not go after the game though.. Cover has been known to reach $80 per person. I'd consider hitting the Library before the Game for some drinks and/or bar food before you hit the Grove.
Oxford is notoriously cold. When the Sun sets on Saturday it is always 10-15 degrees colder (and feels like 20+) when compared to BR.
have fun

Just went in 2019, and the time before that, they still had wooden bleachers in the end zone. I still call The Grove underwhelming.
Oxford Grillehouse was probably the best meal we had there. It’s in the square. Make a resy.
And absolutely correct about beer cans. Have a red solo cup or yeti and you are good to go. Pay to park at the churches. That’s a good call.
Def recommend a DD as it is a DWI Mecca.
