About time.
It's an interesting discussion what this will mean to a lot of questions. A lot of the carriers aren't interested in carrying RSNs anymore. As they battle cord cutters and try to cut costs to consumers, many are letting the RSN deals expire. Dish dropped the Fox RSNs and has no plans to bring them back.
Obviously the TV deals are huge sources of money for the teams. These teams get decades long billion dollar TV deals from the networks which are based on subscriber fees from the carriers...many of whom have no interest in paying for the networks. Obviously they aren't going to follow over to pay for a streaming service so the teams lose a ton of money by going direct to consumer rather than having blanket subscriber fees for RSNs.
