Launched outta Burns Point Recreational Park. Went out to the second set of rigs. 60ft of water. Couldn't believe what happened.
Monster red snapper just chillin' like 15-20ft down.
Big Cobia doing the same.
Was able to chum them and get them up. Defiantly was an awesome trip. Took advantage of the 4 fish per person limit.
Also got acouple bonus red fish on the way in.

Nice.

What kind of savages clean fish on the bow at the landing though?

It's like they were aiming for the meat.

I live near Burns Point and launched there for 25 years. EI 158 or SMI 10 were usually first stops if the water wasn't dirty.

On several occasions I got snapper a little closer in at EI 119 & 128.

119 has a rock pile that comes up to 15' that holds snapper.

It was on Saturday, too. Launched out of Calcasieu Point and went 70 miles out south of Big Lake. It’s been a loooong time since I’ve seen the gulf that calm, that far out. 6 man limit of Red Snapper and kings. No ling, though. We spotted a few around the 40 mile point, but they were not interested. These past 3 weekends have been awesome in SWLA

Is your boat stored near there? I only ask because someone invited us to go snapper fishing while we were hooking up our bay boat

My buddy lives 4 miles from Calcasieu Point, past the black bayou pontoon bridge. We had a full boat, so it wasn’t us.

I'm headed out tomorrow but out of Theriot. Close in rigs
out of Burns Point that are in the 60'-70' depth are 30-40 miles out. Most of the time you have to go out further, usually 50-80 miles.

I don't usually fish rigs just wrecks and reefs.

Sea Pro, I have a block chart that I can copy but I'm in St. Mary Parish.

Car I love the throats just as much as the filet.
