The SEC's Biggest Fear was Just Realized

Holy hell, if you watched LSU/Auburn, you surely weren't denied another unbelievable game, just as the last 8 years have delivered. So why should the SEC be worried now? LSU may have just found themselves and a quarterback... and a damn good one at that.
Looking up and down the roster, LSU has very few concerns: young corners, qb, punter, new LBs. And that's about it. The corners have yet to be seriously challenged, but Jai Eugene has been stellar thus far. Brady Dalfrey kicked the hell out of the ball Saturday, so mark that one off.
Perry Riley and Kelvin Sheppard played phenomenally against Auburn, so another one down. So that brings us to the big one: quarterbacks. Tiger fans universally entered the Auburn game with a world of concern. Sophomore Andrew Hatch has shown solid running ability, but his inability to get the ball downfield doesn't allow offensive wizard Gary Crowton to open the playbook.
Redshirt Freshman Jarrett Lee could throw the football over the mountains, but seemed to be mistake-prone and one turnover away from a meltdown.

Suddenly, like clockwork, you throw the Tigers into the fire, and they come out blazing. Lee throws one of the worst picks known to mankind and suddenly becomes the most hated man in Baton Rouge. After Hatch stumbled off the field like drunken Auburn fans post defeat, Lee was forced into the fire. Down 11, he played a whale of a second half, making throws that would make Jamarcus Russell blush. His first TD was a 33-yard bomb in which he was decleated. Who the hell was that guy?
Lee proceeded to make a series of blistering throws, and his fiery hot release and superb arm strength were unbelievably evident as the game wore on. And perhaps more than anything, he was calmer than Charleton Heston holding a shotgun in an environment where LSU hasn't won in 4 years. Suddenly Lee will show back up on campus with dozens of Golden Girls rabidly throwing themselves at him.

So what does all of this mean? Well, if Lee can continue to make strides LSU is just as legitimate of a threat to win the SEC as Georgia and Florida. And maybe more considering they have the deepest defensive line in the country, 5 wide receivers that could start for nearly any program anywhere, 3 stallions in the backfield and a massive, aggressive and experienced offensive line. If Ryan Perrilloux had returned to this team, you would have to believe they would be the overhwhelming favorites for the national championship.
So now, with a young, gun-slinging quarterback at the helm, LSU suddenly becomes the biggest threat in the SEC. Should be fun to watch this one play out.

Danny McCray is a big enough concern...I don't know why the coaches put him in the position to fail :banghead:

I love LSU as much as the next guy but that is so true. I heard a Bills fan call into Fox Radio today saying they had reclaimed the NFC East.

Don't think the writer is an LSU fan. Just a general SEC football writer. The rest of the column is a summary of SEC Football.

If he did say that.....he's got more issues than overconfidence. Because they're in the AFC East.

the AFC east sucks. Bills are in first place. Pats got destroyed by the worst team in their division. Dolphins suck. Jets are average.

Bills have as good of chance of any to win it.

That's what everyone said about the Tiger's 2007 baseball team. I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised.

Whoever wrote that piece is unpolished. Seems
like he got thrown in suddenly and had to produce
quick. Definitely a little shaky starting out but finished
with a bang ... the kid was slingin it from
the hip at the end. They got themselves a
new writer theyre probably excited as hell.

Wait a minute ... damn, that was written by Jarrett Lee !!
