i talked to my friend kim who lives in gainesville. she told me as long as we get there early enough friday morning, she will have a spot for us to park and tailgate.
Holy shite - not too sure I can take another weekend - I'm just getting back to feeling better...but Gainesville is only 5 hours.
On a side note - Gainesville PD is pretty rough for visiting fans...they actaully enfore open container laws (if you wear Purple or Gold)

I am staying at the La Quinta as well, we have a parking spot, and a tailgating party with Gator Friends, We have a cooker on a trailer, frying catfish. If you have someone not going. let me know and I will buy any tickets.

All I can say is just get ready for constant and ruthless trash talk from the gator fans. I've been there twice and not counting the obnoxious Florida fans, Gainsville is very overrated. There really is nothing to do there. However the atmosphere at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium makes up for the lousy town, and if LSU wins, the trip becomes totally worth it.

My girlfriend has NEVER been to a football game, much less an LSU-UF game. I can't wait to initiate her into the fold and hear her shout her first "TIGER BAIT!" Too bad it can't be in Death Valley, though!
Anyone know where to gather on that sh*tpile they call a campus? We're driving up from Fort Lauderdale Saturday morning, with plenty of grub. GEAUX TIGERS!

Hey everyone-
I have been reading through this thread and thought I might offer some advice. First off, I do not know if UF allows tailgators to set up on Friday. Check out this link RIGHT HERE and call the school to double check. For those of you wanting to set up early I would reccommend the north side of University Ave., across from the stadium, in the neighborhood. Just pay someone for the spaces you use. Better yet, there is a HUGE empty lot(s) at the northwest corner of University and 13th St. There is ample room for all you "bigtime" tailgators, just not sure on when they will allow you to set up. Call the city of Gainesville and ask about this before arriving. One other spacious area is the northeast corner of 13th St. and Museum Dr., across from soro-whore row. Again, I do not know when they allow one to set up, this is considered "on campus". Good luck and show the rest of us how tailgating is done.
Open containers/underage drinking:
Be VERY careful with both of these, especially open container. Use Solo or other opaque cups to drink from and you should be fine. Our beloved prez loves for the cops, UPD and GPD, to ruin peoples' gameday experience by issuing citations and/or jailtime if you do not comply. Yes, our prez is a DICK!
Do not, under any circumstances, buy UF student tix unless you have access to a UF student ID. You will be wasting your money.
Any other questions please ask as I hope all of you have as great a gameday experience in Gainesville as Mrs. Carib and I had in Red Stick last year.

I'll be at The Swamp (the bar) before I go across the street to The Swamp (the stadium).

jac1280. Do you Tailgate with the Waltz Bros by the train tracks in B.R?
Posted on 10/1/08 at 2:43 pm to jac1280
Maybe someone has mentioned it already, maybe not (this thread is way to long to go searching) but it seems that The Swamp Bar is a solid target. Although I think LSU travels better than OM, you may want a bigger place...
