Playing Beau Chene soon and have the choice of either course. Never played there before so just wondering if there are any glaring differences?

4 of us shooting in the 90’s

I would suggest playing the Mag. The mag a little more open.

Grew up there and my opinion is the Oak is the better course to play visually but Mag is more fun. A little easier in my opinion mostly because I feel like you have more room to hit it off the tee.

Both are solid courses but for 90s players Id say Magnolia

The oak without a doubt is the better course. The magnolia is great but it’s much easier, less demanding, and slightly shorter i believe. The oak is in great shape considering the storm and there are a ton of tree debris laying around. There’s the senior club championship this weekend so you may not have an option to play both. They haven’t announced the course yet.

pretty much all of this. i live on 7 oak and they are finally getting piles of tree debris off the course today.....stacking it on the road by the tee box, but at least off the course.

mag - a little wider\more forgiving throughout.

oak - prettier layout (10, 12-17 are my favorite holes), more narrow, less forgiving.

i'll shoot 85-103 on either side........its not the course that dictates my score.

Wtf I grew up off 7 oak hahaha

I score better on mag. Lowest 9 ever was on front of oak. Made bogey on 8 and 9 to shoot 31.

If you ever see someone cutting the grass cursing out loud at absolutely no one, that’s me seeing piles of dog shite in my yard that idiots leave there.

9 eats me up. As does 11 and 18. Any other holes I can walk up confidently that par is in play. 9, 11 and 18 I’m happy with bogey. Elated when I rarely par those either of those.

My low is Mag back 40. Yeah I suck.

Heard 3LO has some large feet. Sauces are solid.

Oak will be easier for you, plus it loops back to clubhouse unlike Mag. Oak is a little more open and more direct, there are a few quirky holes on Mag.

Play the Mag. Main difference for me is the greens. Everything is out of bounds on both courses but Mag is more forgiving than oak. There are many more multi level greens on the Mag and it makes for a better game. Both courses have some tough holes. Oak is prettier though.
