The company I worked for in Plano in 1999-2001 was a reputable tax and appraisal software company. Unless we had clients coming to the office or visiting clients, EVERYONE wore shorts when it was not Winter.

Our owner(my boss) brought us Whataburger Taquitos every Friday morning too.
I've worked in plants for last 20 years and it's untucked polos and jeans EVERY single day. Unless you're a manager/exec. And they get paid a LOT so I'm sure they don't mind.
It's amazing what some of you think is "normal" b/c of your bubble.
