My Film Collection for the Year

Posted on 9/24/21 at 4:29 pm
So when Dr Seuss was cancelled, I realized that anything can be cancelled. I’ve always wanted a grand film collection, and now seemed to be the excuse to do it. I want y’all to know anything y’all have on your iPad or Kindle can be revoked by Amazon or Apple, which is why I’ve been advocating for people to buy physical copies of everything they hold dear because they’re going to take a lot of this shite away. Guarantee you’ll only be able to find Blazing Saddles basically on the black market about three years after Mel Brooks’ death. Many of these I’ve found for $5.00 or less BTW and DVDs/Blu-Rays are much cheaper than they were a decade ago
Well GeauxTigerTM wants me to post everything I’ve got, so here it is. I’ve organized my films into genres with the newest movie at the front and oldest at the back. For series they stick together starting with the oldest film in the franchise. Some of these will fit into multiple genres so mixed up some of them to where they can fit on shelves. A few additionally came with multiple DVDs so there are some movies I own that I dislike (Chicago being one of them). So without further ado, here it goes:

Taxi Driver
I watched a crazy QT story on YouTube about Scorsese.
Apparently Taxi Driver got an X-rating.
So Columbia told Scorsese to do whatever he had to do to get an R-rating.
Scorsese was livid and the legend goes, Scorsese got drunk all night sitting with a loaded gun and was going to shoot the Executive at Columbia in the morning.
Fellow filmmakers visited him and tried to talk him out of it all night long.
So all Scorcese did was wash out the colors in the final scene so the blood wasn't bright red.
Apparently, this was enough to change the MPAA's mind.
I'd like to see the saturated version.

If you create an account on blu-ray.com, you can create a collection to keep track of what movies you own whether it's DVD, blu ray or 4K blu ray and you can pick which version you have etc.
I too prefer owning physical media for stuff I really like and don't have to worry about never having access. You get better video and audio with less compression. Also, no online streaming offers lossless audio.
Here's my current collection:

Damn, yours looks to be as big as or bigger than mine. Impressive.
But I have no idea why you’d own “Grave of the Fireflies.” As the film is perfectly described “It’s the greatest movie you’ll ever see that you never want to watch again.”

Question: I registered an account on myblu-ray.com. Question: How in the hell do you add to your collection? I’ve been looking for like 20 minutes

How was Dr Seuss “cancelled”?

His estate revoked 7 of his books for being offensive and racist when they weren’t at all. It was so bad Jimmy Kimmel said when he heard it, that he immediately went to his children’s bookshelf, picked it up and read it, and then said this is just Woke garbage and shite like this is going to get Trump re-elected. If you’re too Woke for Jimmy Kimmel, you’ve gone overboard.

I remember it took me a minute to figure out how to do it. Find your movie in the search bar at the top of the page. Don't forget to click Blu-ray, 4K or DVD above the search bar so it filters correctly.
Once on the correct movie page, look below the cover picture and you'll see an icon that looks like a piece of film. Click on that an a popup will appear; change status to Owned (or something else) then click Add to Collection.

So, the Dr Seuss estate decides to pull seven of 60+ books and to you that means “Dr Seuss got cancelled”? You get offended real easily.
And Trump lost, so Kimmel was wrong.

This happened when Biden was in office. At this point, I’d say barring health Trump will likely also be the 47th President.

You should add John Wayne's Rio Grande - the movie ends with the military band playing Dixie.
