The lead is talented and has been in plenty of other stuff. The story isn’t my thing, but my wife really loved the play.
I’m curious if it’s defectors just don’t like the story or it’s Cats level bad of a musical.
Based on the tweeters posted, I’m not sure we’d like the same thing anyways?

Judging from the twitter pics of the reviewers…I might like the movie. Because they look like miserable people

Cats is specifically referenced in the avclub's review. The musical is beloved. Critics (in general) aren't slamming the story or its original play.
