If he did it.. and I assume that he did.. the biggest mistake was that he didn’t bring her back to Florida and feed the alligators..

Incredibly stupid. If he didn't get caught carrying a body across the country, the cadaver dogs would signal to her recent presence in the van easily.
He was already in a great spot to dispose of a body.
