I wanted to think the flying home to Florida thing had something to do with the disappearance, however the timeline shows that GB had facetimed with her mom 2 days after BL had returned from Florida after emptying out the storage unit

Wait. What?
If she facetimed with her mother after he left the state that seems like a pretty solid alibi. At least until he could be in physical proximity with the missing woman.
If that's true and the police have another guy they think killed the lesbian couple then this guy seems less plausible.

The actions of the guys parents raise some interesting questions to me.
You would have to think BL told the something about what happened. Maybe not the whole truth or even the truth, but he had to provide his parents with some story as to why he was home without her, and subsequently why her parents were calling.
While a parent obviously wants to “protect” their child, at some point (after talking to an attorney) that involves coming clean? Be it anywhere from cold blooded murder to self-defense to her committing suicide…his best possible outcomes, unless they just totally want to cover it up, all come from telling the truth.
