I was in St. Louis which is most likely my last show. Some people at the hotel said Phil was debating a return, anyway. Post Jerry I saw The Dead, Phil and Friends, and this one. This band is BY FAR my favorite. Really enjoyed it especially since I had lawn tickets and snuck down to the front row center. Place was kinda empty. Mayer is great, doesn't try to replace Jerry. The bass player sings well but stole his axe from artist formerly known as Prince.

It was an emotional trip. I stayed with the band at the Four Seasons. Bob even came down for a swim. I met so many wonderful people. Someone with the band gave me a fantastic cigar on the pool deck and then gave me one wrapped to go (which I saved and it sits in my humidor forever). So at the set break he comes down from the board and gives me another and lights it and wants a picture. It made it all the way to Terrapin before it went out. It was very special and a great way to wrap up my career. Two hundred four show with Jerry and these three.

I hope they saved something for Chicago because looks like they blew a load at Deer Creek....no surprise there, the 1990 shows were sick.

Have fun!

Just curious, do you know what an ANKH is and it’s meaning ? Your post comes across as having limited knowledge about “the bass player”. His previous musical history runs deep - The Allman Brothers Band, Col. Bruce Hampton, Sun Ra, and founding member of Tedeschi Trucks Band and Aquarium Rescue Unit. Prince’s “design” is based on the symbols for: Male sex, Female sex, religion (cross), and a heart for love. Prince came up with the symbol design to piss off Warner Brothers which ultimately resulted in their divorce.

The ankh is the Egyptian symbol for Life. Sun Ra inspired OB and encouraged him to wear the symbol. Many of OB’s custom bass guitars have an ankh inlay as the fret marker.

Im guessing Prince stole his symbol and guitar idea from the originator, Todd Rundgren

Not arguing but I always though the P&F w Jimmy and Warren was the best post GD band. Only caught them once, OKC 2002 and was great. Only seen Dead Co once and it was great too.
Was The Dead w Kimock? I caught them w Joan Osborn at Bonnaroo. That was good too.
