ESPN's take on LSU vs Ohio St.

But that's the truth. This was different from the Brutus' other brutal losses on the big stages. Florida schemed and played out of their minds to ambush Ohio State two years ago in the BCS title game. A stacked LSU bunch fed off the emotion of the Superdome and was still outplayed by OSU for stretches of last season's title game.

Sorry if Germans. But did anyone else see this game they are talking about.

I'm glad LSU "fed" off of the emotion of the Superdome, while USC couldn't feed off of the emotion of a larger crowd in their own home stadium. Perhaps a USC crowd is just that pitiful.
But I love how they have excuses for the lopsided Florida and LSU victories, but none for USC. If the roles were reversed and Beanie were out for the LSU game as opposed to the USC game, don't you think some of Ohio State's offensive ineptness would have been attributed to that fact?

Beanie was out for the NC game. Did he gain any yards in the second half?

yeah we got outplayed for like the first 7-10 minutes or so. but that's about it.

I admit USC is playing good football and deserve to be #1 at this time. But come on, do we really need to assume they are better than every team from the last 2 years. Come on. This article just goes to show you how ESPN should change its name to USCN. Every year its the same thing, they are ready to crown them kings of the world. Sure they pounded Ohio St. but you dont hear anything about home field advantage or the lack of Ohio St. Heisman candidate.

our 2s and 3s were slaping them around.

Fowler is only pointing out that the USC-OSU game was a more complete dismantling of OSU on the national stage than the previous two national championships. OSU "outplaying" LSU at times could easily be attributed to the first quarter of the 2008 NC game.
It is certainly too early to be drawing these types of conclusions about USC though.

i remember someone on ESPN recently saying the NC game was closer than the score indicates because of RJF's blocked FG or some shite. One of their TDs came in garbage time and we let off the gas yet it was closer than it appeared.

I like how there's zero mention of Beanie Wells being out. Without Wells, tOSU is an average football team and it wouldn't surprise me to see Troy give them all they can handle this weekend just like Ohio did. And Virginia, as it turns out, is just plain awful. But nobody is gonna is going to do a retrospective and qualify USC's wins, because there is a serious blind spot in the media when it comes to USC. And when USC blows another game to another mediocre PAC 10 opponent, it will be because they're "banged up."
I'm not saying USC isn't a good team, but I'm getting a little sick of them being annointed as the greatest ever until a Stanford comes along, and then you get a week break before they're re-annointed as the "hottest team in the country" that just happened to be "banged up" against a 40 point dog...at home.

Florida's offense did outscheme Ohio State's defense. But Florida's defensive front just manhandled the Buckeyes.
As for LSU, the Tigers started slow. After that, they ran off 31 unanswered points. Funny how LSU wasn't able to "feed off" the emotion of the crowd from the very beginning, huh?
That being said, I don't give a damn what ESPN says. Just give us that damn 6:45pm kickoff, and get the hell out of the way!

And if I recall, Beanie Wells had a lot to do with tOSU outplaying LSU. How'd he do against USC? How Fowler doesn't even take into consideration that tOSU's greatest offensive weapon (and it's not even close) didn't play a down against USC when drawing the comparison is beyond comical.

Fellows, the key in life is to not let others dictate the debate or how you feel about yourself or anything for that matter...if you depend on others to define your identity, you will be lost forever...thank goodness, we have Les Miles that understands these things and will deliver the goods on Saturday and the season! Have a good day!

It is not the media's job to be fair.
As soon as you learn this, you will be happier.

I'd rather be pissed. I kind of enjoy it.

It's ashamed we beat OSU when the "outplayed" us, yeah right!!!!!! I'm sure they'll come up with a way to give a partial credit to a team when the lose and they even out played the other team. It runs along the same lines of todays political issues and being politically correct. It's coming to football soon.
for winning when you should have let OSU win.

I agree that Fowler should've noted the absence of Ohio State's greatest offensive weapon, but I also agree with him that no one - no, not even LSU - could beat USC unless USC did it to themselves.
Chris Fowler is LSU's greatest supporter at ESPN and I have always appreciated his unbiased honesty. I believe that Chris is secretly a huge Tiger fan.
frick ESPN!
Geaux Chris!

...against Stanford's BACKUP QB! Hail Harbaugh. Another thing to think about: If Dixon doesn't go down, the hottest team in the country goes to the Holiday Bowl.....and LSU is left out of the championship game.

still would have been in a BCS bowl. Probably the Fiesta

actually, Oregon to NC, LSU to Sugar, USC stays in Rose, Georgia takes on someone while Hawaii left out

nope. Fiesta had both conference winners. Maybe Orange over Kansas though since they picked ahead of Fiesta. Where they woulda mauled VT.
