I would not want to terminate long-time employees because of their vaccine status

They’ll be disgruntled and have likely accumulated a ton of dirt on their employer and higher ups over the years. A lot of unethical, embarrassing and immoral behavior about to be exposed.

Our company to date has not mandated vaccines for our employees, our take on the situation was that if our clients request it, we'll accommodate their request for those employees assigned to that client but overall, we weren't going to mandate vaccines.
The tight labor market has been a real challenge and we have no desire to have to terminate employees because they aren't vac'd. This move by Biden, if it stands and I think it won't, will cause an already tight labor market to be even tighter.
One unintended consequence of this is that all these companies, ours included, that have been pushing diversity and inclusion are going to lose minority employees at a higher rate than white employees due to the lower rate of vaccinations among minorities.

post reflects your fear based vibration.
most managers see skilled trained worker bees. it's expensive to train well and if you don't you lose anyway.
I don't terminate any if they can work from home.

My employer is global, but we have a small business, in-state competitor who is taking our customer contracts away left and right.
They'd love to have me after 22 years of service to their archrival.

Hell no. At the very least long-term employees are likely to be loyal to your business, but probably very competent at their job too. Hypothetically, it could mean starting over from square one, which would bankrupt some business owners.
