Democrats are all about hedonism and the ultimate freedom of personal choice at the expense of everything else. The ends justify the means.

Abortion is the ultimate expression of that. They all know it's stopping a human life. They don't admit it, but they know exactly what it is. And being able to kill to achieve your goal of happiness is the ultimate expression of personal choice.
