Not if we had maintained a large military presence until AFTER the civilians had been evacuated. You know...like common sense would have dictated? That way you don't have to do it all at once in a two week operation. You could stretch the evacuation out over time and make it easier to protect civilian convoys. You also threaten to call the whole thing off if the Taliban or ISIS-K decided to interfere with violent action. Which Trump would have done.

I understand your point - and appreciate it. HKIA made sense for those in and around Kabul for a quick in and out. The road to Bagram was a disaster waiting to happen, in my humble opinion.
I know you haven't, but no one should give up on those still there.
