He really wants out of KC according to local media reports. I would be ecstatic to trade Jamaal Brown and maybe a 2009 3rd round pick for LJ. He's still young and athletic enough to be that power back we so desperately need. Intelligent thoughts?

This is probably not a terrible post at all. The only thing is that the Saints already traded draft picks for Shockey. I think they gave up a second and fifth for Shockey.

Vilma was given up for a fourth rounder in 2008 and a conditional pick in 2009.

Losing an additional pick in 2009 would really be a hit to the team's depth. I don't know if they can afford to lose any more picks. I do like the thinking behind getting LJ, though. Would the Chiefs even be interested in Brown?

I'll fricking take LJ any day!

We can give the Chiefs a package deal: Jammal Brown and my left nut and the Saints get LJ!

How well can your left nut throw an out pattern? The Chiefs do need a QB...

KC aint trading LJ no matter how much he complains. Not hapening. But IF they would I'd give them Brown in a second, although the OL looks to be a weak link

I don't like the trade for this reason. Priest Holmes did nothing in the NFL until he ran in a Dick Vermeil offense with W. Roaf and W. Sheilds. Even D. Blaylock looked good behind that line. LJ got his chance and then tore it up in the same offense with a solid line. He holds out and gets the biggest average salary for a running back and then gets a season ending injury in week 9 of last year. He's behind a pedestrian o-line this year (comparable to the Saints) and is only rushing for 2.3 yards per carry and hasn't hit 100 yards total for the season yet.

Why do we want a guy who causes drama, with a huge contract, coming off of an injury who can't run behind an average o-line coupled with the fact that we would lose draft picks?

Just my thoughts

i think larry still has some nice games left in the tank, one question, who would be blocking for him to do any kind of running? jamal is the only-- only --- above average lineman we have

agree. his hugh contract and losing more draft picks is not gonna help us. the running back isn't the problem its the o-line and getting rid on a our best tackle is not going to solve the o-line problem

I think it would end up looking a lot here like it does there....

Payton likes to run a pass first offense. LJ even as a full-time starter likely looks at 10-15 carries per game on average.

Plus, you are willing to give away (probably) our best O-Lineman on an average to below average line for a RB who will be left with nothing to run behind?

Bad Move, and AJF did a good job as to I don't even need to mention the damn draft pick situation either

I think a cheaper altenative would have been Cedric Benson for inside carries. But I think we will see after the next two weeks what we have at runningback. If Deuce can get back to 90% of his former self our runningbacks will be fine, our running game may still suffer but that is more on the offensive line.

They also dont have the passing game to compliment him.

ok folks , lets revisit this. its not that bush cant run or pierre cant be a player, the saints DO NOT have the line to make it work. if bush was running behind dallas o'line, how do you think he would be doing now?? he would be breaking huge runs ....
