Archery Ranges

Looking suggestions for a place where I can teach my son how to shoot a bow. Preferably on the westbank, we are in the SE corner of Jefferson Parish, so Plaquemines Parish is actually closer than most anything in Jeff.
Really regretting moving 'to town' where stepping out the back door to shoot firearms or a bow results in freaking out neighbors and other bad things happening.

We would shoot arrows from our back deck into a block target on a slight slope. We could get up to 40 yard shots in a certain direction. Granted our houses in the neighborhood are off of the roads a bit. Well, all it took was for a d-loop to give way on the draw and an arrow goes awry 90 degrees to the left of our position and off into some neighbor’s trees. We never found the arrow not heard a complaint but that put and end to our backyard range.

Why not head out to the Mississippi River and cross the levee to set up some targets in an area where there is an earthen levee and not covered in concrete to lessen damage to your target arrows????

If you're ever in the Monroe area, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's office has an excellent range where they train.

I buy a $100 yearly membership and shoot my handguns and rifles at the gun range out there.

OPSO Public Shooting Range The Ouachita Parish Public Range has facilities accommodating archery, pistols, rifles (up to 200 yards) and also Five-Stand Trap Shooting. The Archery Range was updated during the summer of 2020. We believe those using it will like the new changes.
Archery Range
Within the grounds of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Center and Public Range lies the OPSO Archery Park. This park was built by OPSO with the assistance of local businesses with the goal of bringing a first class archery facility to the Ouachita Parish area for the public’s use. The archery park consists of 7 bag targets with marked known distances ranging from 15 to 60 yards.
Range personnel are available to assist archers if needed.

ELEVATED SHOOTING – The park has a 12 foot high shooting deck equipped with staircases and safety railing for elevated shooting. This site can be used year round for hunting style shots and is set up with 3D targets and bag targets.

LONG DISTANCE SHOTS – This area is set up with a special shooting pad that has 3 long range large targets to choose from, ranging from 40 to 60 yards. It is located in the area near the far end of the range.

I was going to suggest this exact thing. As long as the river level is not high this is your best bet.
But finding a place to shoot arrows is much easier than guns. I’m looking to buy land just to shoot guns bc there’s no where else to do it besides the boring shooting range.

Anyone know of any decent ranges on the Northshore area? Currently shooting in my neighborhood, but miss being able to shoot 40+
