Not taking any side here, but LSU had 45-50,000 season ticket holders opt out last year that got full refunds with no ramifications. The Athletic Budget shortfall was somewhere between 60-80 million dollars due to Covid.

LSU obviously took it on the chin but so did every college, every pro sport, every concert venue... hell - everybody on earth. Whether you agree with it or not, the government has been holding everybody's hand financially to the spoils of everybody else trying to run a business. If that's fair, then ripping the bandaid off like LSU is allegedly doing here isn't the right thing to do.

I don't think LSU was willing to do another full refund policy after last year and hold peoples' place in line.

Like I said, we've all suffered. And the policy on its face might be an ok one in the long run. But announcing it (or actually not announcing it, as there's still no word on this publicly) a week before the season begins is downright savage to the generations of fans and alums who have supported you. Giving fans a warning that this is coming next season would be a little more fair but at the least, far less cruel.

Season ticket renewals were down 4,000 compared to 2019

And if they plan on just throwing season ticket holders away like this, how bright is that future? I've been going to games since 1984 and I don't plan on stopping. Watching LSU treat their fanbase like this might change that way of thinking as time goes on though.

The options given are important, at this late date they do seem weak. My concern would be not offering a option if tradition fees are keep this year. A option to keep ticket on account for next year. LSU could offer a $100 off each account next year that chooses this option.. A offer of good faith with the fans , who have supported this university for years. I’m just saying LSU needs to offer something with this environment.

Can't argue with anything that you're saying but your main point of contention seems to be LSU' loyalty to its long time season ticket holders. As we both know, there is no loyalty anymore, companies and corporations destroyed that back in the 80's. You have to look out for No.1.

I've been going to the games since 1979. The LSU season ticket holders' loyalty was based on tenure - the people who had tickets the longest got the best seats and access to road tickets...not a bad system right?....rewarded your loyalty.

Skip Bertman as AD came in and slapped seat licenses on the tickets and you were told to pay up and if not, you could relocate or give up your tickets. Your loyalty and tenure became worthless. It was lousy, a lot of long termers gave up their tickets and got priced out of the stadium. Did LSU suffer? Of course not, they made more money and resold the tickets, just like they will with those who opt out this week.

Don't opt out from something that you enjoy just to get back at LSU because their bureaucrats do not care. If you care about the teams and student athletes and truly enjoy the product on the field, then consider the decision to continue supporting them, as they are controlled by the same bureaucracy as you and I.
