BeaverPro has some good advice but I certainly understand your frustration. I have that same thought all the time - hit a beautiful drive into the center of the fairway and it’s right there in front of me and I skull the iron or hook it. One bit of consolation I would offer is if you’ve only been taking golf somewhat seriously for a year and are already having some rounds in the low 80’s, I’d say that’s pretty damn good. I know many people (myself included) who have been at it for longer than that and haven’t gotten to low 80’s.

I’m definitely not mad at where my game is. However I’m trying to become consistent. Since I’ve been building a swing for about a year all the different swing thoughts get in my head. It’s one thing to miss hit an iron 10 yards left or 10 yards right but it’s a bit disheartening when you start shanking irons after hitting perfect iron shots all day and go from shooting 40 on the front to 55 on the back. It’s obviously all mental, I’m obviously capable, building a swing takes forever and I’m very impatient. Not to mention I’ve had so many different swing techniques during the swing change it’s hard to remember which one is right vs which one is wrong because they all feel very similar.
