Did a little experiment today

Since I’m almost 61 ( where the hell did the years go) I played the senior tees at Cypress Lakes for the hell of it. Now I know why guys a little older than me brag about shooting in the 70’s. Different game at that short length, was fun to shoot a personal best 74 but I’ll go back to the member tees, more challenging. Went to 17 even and tee shot rolled up to an oak tree that has never been a problem from the whites.
Yeah I know cool story bro, you’re old.

Jack Nicklaus helped start the tee it forward initiative. If it’s good enough for Jack……
on the personal best!

How is the course condition and the greens?
It was awful on late March and haven't been back.

Play where your game fits. Too many fricklegs play tees too long for their game

Not sure if you’re talking the same course, this Cypress Lakes is in Destrehan, La. The greens have gotten much better but bunkers are still a total mess from all of the rains this summer. Fairways are good and they have been working on drainage.

I played 18 from the whites this morning.
The a Friend called. He Wanted to play 9.
I was tired, but I went and played the gold.
Different angles, but fun.
Got to swing different clubs.
I still missed one 3 footer, but overall
I putted and chipped better This afternoon.
Over the last year, I’ve played 5 different tees on our course. We have rated tees from 5950 to 6800. When it’s wet or cold I move up.
When it’s baked out and running I’ll move back.
It’s fun to get to play different tees to me.
Up is a blast. Back is a challenge.

This is so true.
Age is not the sole determinant of the appropriate tee.
I like to play a tee that lets me swing a variety of clubs. To me, a perfect coarse would have 2 reachable par 5. 2 long par 4s. 2 short par 4s.
1 long par 3. 1 short par 3.
