Typical sad SC penis envy. They pretend so hard to have the kind of program we have right now that the very existence of the real thing drives them insane. It's sort of a constant reminder and mockery of their pretention. Kind of sad that, after almost a quarter of a century has passed since we spanked them on their own field in the last game played between our teams, they still are so completely obsessed that they have to obsessively scour every word of every post on an LSU message board for anything they can turn into a post about them

Yes, that is why this board went to complete meltdown mode after USC beat OSU. That is why there are threads after threads year around bashing USC. That is why there are FUSC stickers all around town. That is why even BR newscasters pick up on the hatred (envy) of LSU fans and call USC "the team LSU fans love to hate". That is whay even many rantards have become increasingly frustrated with the USC talk on TD.com. That is why a billboard was erected in SoCal. That is why a truck was rented and driven around ESPN. Envy of LSU. Also, I do not turn posts here into "USC". Those are already laid out nicely.

LSU has recently joined the elite. Whether they remain is to be seen. But either way, many fans have yet to learn how to handle it. Many believe that acknowledging the excellence of USC would somehow tarnish their status as an LSU fan.

I find that to be very true. I'm all LSU but purposefully like to point out USC positives just to listen to the reactions I get from friends.

They end up asking me how/why I can "like" USC when I'm such a huge LSU fan. I tell them it's not a matter of like/dislike, just presenting them with facts.

About the same time SC found out how to run a football program again. I hate how other schools so easily discount our past which was a lot more illustrious than they think. We aren't or never were Oregon or Arizona... and SC wasn't worth a damn while we were winning a couple SEC's, playing in big bowl games, and churning out good NFL talent in the 80's. Give us more respect than that.

...
How is saying LSU has recently joinged the elite not giving LSU respect historically? ELite as in a consistent top 5 team in the hunt year after year and once who is sure to bounce back to that very same status after a down period. I am aware that LSU has historically been a very good team.

LSU re-joined the elite the same time you guys did.

You guys didn't re-join the elite until 2002 (Pete Carroll's second season). We finished #7 in 2001 (Nick Saban's second season) and won the national championship in 2003.

Yes. For every post by an SC fan on this board, that is exactly why. That is a far more rational and justifiable conclusion than describing every post on a college sports board that involves SC -- generally one of the highest ranked teams in college football the last several years -- as "an obsession with Southern Cal."

That may or may not be true. But what is undeniably true is that all of the LSU fans on this board have learned what none of the SC fans on this board have -- how to "deal" with it enough to stay on our own teams' boards. Which is a far greater degree of control over whatever hangup, "obsession" or jealousy we may have than the SC fans like you have clearly managed.
