I don't think anyone is maintaining that we should not have left Afghanistan. However, Biden left with no plan whatsoever. That's the problem.

As to the war in general. It was a necessary war and occupation. It allowed us to take away the last safe haven for Al Quaeda and systematically destroy them. The violent Jihad, always present in Islam, surged around the 1980's. It culminated with the twin towers coming down about two decades ago. It was always going to fade eventually. We occupied Afghanistan long enough to wait it out. The war in Afghanistan was effective.
