New Orleans gaining 12% is impressive.

Not really. The population was way down in 2010 after Katrina 5 years earlier. It had nowhere to go but up.

Correct..the 2000 census showed 484,688 persons. There was a 29% decrease from 2000 to 2010..In actuality the decrease came after Katrina.

In 2020 New Orleans still had 20.8% (100,671) fewer people than 2000 (2005).

New Orleans lost 140,839 persons due to Katrina but has only regained 40,168 of that lost population since then.
