Heads up! These signs of socialism and its cousin, communism, are worrisome across the board, and it's not just medical supplies that are facing serious shortages. Aaaahhh, the Biden economy!
The Food and Drug Administration has documented ongoing shortages of PPE, COVID-19 testing materials and ventilators that it expects will last throughout the public health emergency. As of late June, surgical masks, respirators, hospital gowns and examination gloves were on the FDA list of medical devices in short supply, as well as pipette tips, vials and reagents for PCR tests.
While hospitals may not see shortages today, distributors are watching the backlogs build. "If they continue, we will end up in a situation similar to March or April [2020]," Einhorn warned.
However, the greatest vulnerabilities exposed at the onset of the pandemic have yet to be shored up. America continues to rely heavily on foreign-made medical supplies at a time when international shipping disruptions and new shutdowns continue to sow doubt in reliable access to critical materials.

How can we possibly be short of ventilators?

Shut it down now! Not tomorrow, not next week. NOW!

Everyone here might want to consider buying some basic medical supplies, among other things, now while we can, with a shortage and hyper-inflation likely incoming.

That literally were showing dumping excess new ventilators in the news some months back .

We were giving them away to other countries.

Actually, I've had this confirmed by a friend who works in a lab. They are definitely noticing supply (especially pipettes and other supplies for PCR testing ) shortages at a time when samples are increasing.
fwiw, she also tells me they are getting more positive (for covid) test results, although that doesn't mean that there are symptoms or transmissibility, just that more people are being tested.

Absolutely, that's common sense and should be the case even in 'normal' times.
