Watching Last Boy Scout for the first time in a looooong time. It's got a bunch of action sequences and explosions but it's definitely a film noir. Dark tones, mystery, detective, etc. Right?
Regardless it's a good watch. Highly recommend.
NB4 what year is it? Meme.

I watched it last night for the first time in a long time. Halle Berry with her original nose.

Always liked that movie. Yes definite dark feel, antihero elements, sad deaths.

Supposedly everyone on set hated each other. It's kind of miracle Tony Scott actually made a decent film out of it.
And yes, by definition, it's pretty much and action noir.
It also has one of the best gimmick sports league presentations I can remember.

The one-liners in this movie are great.
quote:
Mike Mathews: It just happened, Joe. It...
Joe Hallenbeck: Sure, sure, I know... it just happened. Coulda happened to anybody. It was an accident, right? You tripped, slipped on the floor and accidentally stuck your dick in my wife. "Whoops! I'm so sorry, Mrs. H. I guess this just isn't my week."
quote:
Alley Thug: Wrong place, wrong time. Nothing personal.
Joe Hallenbeck: That's what you think. Last night I fricked your wife.
Alley Thug: Oh you did, hah? How'd you know it was my wife?
Joe Hallenbeck: She said her husband was a big pimp lookin' motherfricker with a hat.
Alley Thug: Oh, you're real cool for somebody who's about to take a bullet.
Joe Hallenbeck: After fricking your wife I'll take two.
quote:
[Joe gets to his office, after waking up next to a dead squirrel a bunch of kids threw in his car]
Mike Matthews: What'd you do last night?
Joe Hallenbeck: I think I fricked a squirrel to death, and don't remember.
quote:
Jimmy Dix: Feel like I've been rode hard and put away wet.
Joe Hallenbeck: What the hell does that mean?
Jimmy Dix: It's horse talk, man.
Joe Hallenbeck: They got the brothers ridin' horses now, huh?
Jimmy Dix: Yeah, cars're gettin' too hard to steal.
Joe Hallenbeck: You ever wear, like, a little cowboy hat?
Jimmy Dix: [laughs] I'm really good, man. Maybe I could take your daughter out. What's she like?
Joe Hallenbeck: She's like thirteen years old, and if you even look at her funny, I'm gonna stick an umbrella up your arse and open it.
quote:
Jimmy Dix: [to himself] Okay, what would Joe do at a time like this? He'd kill everybody and smoke some cigarettes.
quote:
Mike Mathews: [Mike is trying to offer Joe a case] So listen, I'm booked. You got plans?
Joe Hallenbeck: I'm thinking about smoking some cigarettes.
Mike Mathews: Could you postpone?
Joe Hallenbeck: These are pretty good cigarettes.
quote:
Jimmy Dix: Hi, you're nobody.
Joe Hallenbeck: Shhh, don't tell anyone.

It’s an enjoyable movie to watch. I’m not sure if it completely meets the definition of noir, but it could fit there as well as a few other categories.
It beats a lot of those straight to video movies that get put out now.

Joe Hallenbeck: Play some rap music.

It certainly has some noir elements to it, so yeah I can see that.
Tony Scott is one hell of a director. He knocked it out the park with this and many other movies. I think this and Man on Fire are his two best, and I could make the case for either of them being in my top 10 favorite movies. I made the wife watch this with me not too long ago, and she had a blast with it

The wife was bitching when the football player shot people in the opening scene in a dark stadium, but by the end she was laughing at every one of bruce's one liners and even gave a slight cheer when milo got it with the helicopter blades.
