Took the family to do some things in Dallas, caught a Rangers game, and of course I figured out how to fit in some BBQ. Took the detour on the way to Dallas and stopped by Mimsy’s in Crockett, Texas. Today left the family in the room to get in line at Cattleack. Ate what I could and then went pick them up to show them where and why I am always talking about Goldee’s BBQ.

Pork steak and burnt ends were great at Cattleack, brisket was also very good. Goldee’s is in that rarefied air to me that people talk about when they say you hit a certain level of phenomenal bbq, you would just be nitpicking to find something wrong. I really enjoy their sides, their savory/Mexican style beans, turkey is the best I’ve ever had, brisket is awesome, everything.

How you prep for bbq on a road trip

Cattleack

Goldee’s

Mimsy’s

Thoroughly enjoy your reports. Keep 'em coming.

It all looks amazing.

FTR. had lunch at Killen's in Pearland. Great stuff in its own right.

I can feel the meat sweats from just looking at those pics.

Excellent Q.

I've got some cousins up in Dallas. We are talking about making the trip this fall... BBQ is definitely on the menu each day for this camper.

On a side note... who the eff downvotes these type threads on the FB? Some people are miserable.

Mango sticky rice that Nu Pohn is doing while mangos are fresh. It was outstanding, and that’s coming from someone that doesn’t really eat fruits/vegetables lol.

It was very good, I’d have to go to Hurtado’s first and let them compete against each other. Fort Worth has a strong bbq scene right now.

Not sure where you’ll be coming from, but within an hour drive of Dallas you can be at an awesome bbq place. I really enjoy the Mexican twist you can find at a lot of places in Fort Worth.

Has been on my list to check out. Will have to make a trek up one day soon before Vaughn’s 2021 list comes out and the unknowns turn into a shitshow.

I don’t see them being in the top 50. Maybe just sneaking, but I would be surprised.

How is Goldees? Its literally 10 minutes from my house, and a co-worker's son is an owner. I can't believe I haven't been yet.

Goldee’s is 1a and Evie Mae’s 1b for best places I have been so far. If you haven’t been I definitely suggest going. Yesterday by about 1230-1 they were sold out.

In Grapevine for the last day today. Went to the Rangers game last night and wow what a stadium. Looking for a bbq place to eat in this area if you have any recommendation.

You’re close to it all. Hurtado’s in Arlington (on my list for next trip), Fort Worth you’ve got a handful. Goldee’s, Panther City, Dayne’s, Brix, Zavala’s in Grand Prairie, Cattleack is closed today. Dinner service would be Terry Black’s in Dallas. For something different go to Shaneboys food truck in Fort Worth. He labels it Hawaiian bbq but it had more of Asian feel to me, extremely good.
