Correct. LSU open the season with A&M - 1959, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1968, 1969, and 1970.
Also 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989.
Also 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995.
Great opening game match-up.
Thanks for the help @Bomont

That 1986 opener against heavily favored A&M was epic. Hodson and Harvey William's debut. Sammy Martin housed a short crossing route, Michael Brooks with a late pick 6. The student section was apeshit crazy. My favorite Tiger Stadium game of all-time.

Every year I was there. Was fabulous but also were not in the SEC yet, so a bit different scenario. Still wear my 'Aggieculture' T-shirt from time to time.

There's some caveats:
1) Back in the 50s/ 60s the season didn't start til the 3rd week of September. The torrid temps of summer had subsided by then.
2) The game between the two rivals was always played in Baton Rouge before 1987.
3) Global warming hadn't yet kicked in back then. Less chance for a game canceled, postponed or change of venue for a tropical system.

The 1995 game I felt like I was watching game from Mercury. Hottest experience of my life. It was brutal. I believe it was 118-120 on the field.
