It's not.
It is comparing data only in May.
Figure out the vaccination rates in May, and you'll have something you can maybe make sense of.
Of course, that doesn't tell the entire story either. The effectiveness of the vaccine over time could be minimal. If it is only effective for 6 months (for example), the advantages of being vaccinated would disappear by the end of the year.

I looked at that the other day and I believe around 40% were vaxed at that time, so the majority were going to be unvaxed regardless.
Using ONLY May data is a huge "fake news" red flag though.
