And this is why people don't trust idiots who purposefully source things incorrectly.
Your use of chomsky suggests he proposed this idea to the media who embraced it, and thus this idea comes from the left; not that Chomsky is actively criticizing right-wing governments' use of state-controlled media to maintain power, which is what he was talking about.
