What does this mean?
The "Nation" goes as our major cities go. Not the other wat around.
The "Nation became safer since the 90's because leaders in cities like New York and Chicago got tough on crime and implemented policies that reduced crime in those cities, thus the nation followed the major cities.
Am I missing something?

How safe are those cities now? Things did get better but now it's a complete shitshow.
