Because nursing home workers "misgendered" nursing home patients is obviously the crisis of a generation, nay three generations, that California faces.

Sort of.
They view it as "a living, breathing document" meaning that the definitions of what it states can change with the whims of society (you know, like how they say a "man" can have a period but in reality it's a woman suffering from gender dysphoria). What they hate is when conservatives call them on their bullshite and show them that the definitions are concrete and there is context with which to understand their true meaning.
