ideas on building a home "hot spring"

basically an outside tank/pool for soaking, similar to a hot spring. i have artesian well water so supply of clean/unmolested H2O is not an issue
what i'm thinking is a masonry or concrete pool, maybe 6x6 and 4' deep, plumbed to a stand-alone propane water heater and possibly recirculating back to the heater. the idea is to supply and hold the tub at about 100 to 102 F. you'd fill it and then empty it at each use.
6x6x4 is about 1000 gallons, that seems like overkill but i'd like it to be a 2-person tub. any plumbers here that have any thoughts?

Why not just a normal hot tub?
This would be a huge PITA. You may not have to worry about a water bill but it will still take time to fill and heat something that big.

wife doesn’t want chlorine or chemicals in the water.
I’m thinking if I recirculate it won’t be so bad, and I can pump the water to an irrigation system so I don’t waste it
6x6 might be way too big though

With the TFP method the levels are so low you don’t even know they are in there. I believe hot tubs use bromine...

Google “wood fired hot tub” and you’ll find lots of options. Some in wood, some in plastic….and the small, 2-person versions are under 200 gallons. Some have propane heating options too. Zero need to go as large as 6x6.

Using a recirculating solar water heater might be a thing to consider. Going to take a lot of BTU's to bring cool/cold ground water up to soaking temps...

I have a friend that built a redneck arse wood fired one. I think it has a plastic sheet for a bottom but I cant remember exactly. The heating vessel basically sits in the water and you feed it wood. Ive never been in it but been around during the use, works surprisingly well. Definitely more of a pita then I’d like.
You are also going to need to get a cover or it will fill with rain. Would really need a drain and pump on the bottom so that it completely emptied, otherwise you will have water sitting and that will almost immediately mildew.
ETA: you can fine free ‘hot tubs’ and baths all time time when the motors break or get old. Could bury one somehow and use it that way
