A freaking kicker who kicks the ball in the endzone this week, I really think he should be lashed about 10 times with a small cane. Every got damn team from ULL to South Florida has a kicker who can do this and LSU's guys can't put it pass the 10!

Certainly the team who kicks the most balls into the endzone will win the game, no question about it.

*back to reality*

Sound kick coverage combined with LSU's ability to deliver big hits creates an opportunity for turnovers....I'll take that every damn kickoff over a touchback.

Don't think we have one, unfortunately.

Yall act like I'm delusional or something. We are LSU and have talent at every position on the field yet we can't find a guy who can boot a kickoff in the endzone......No one else finds this disappointing?

I somewhat agree, but I doubt Miles was logging a whole lot of miles to check out kickers that year. He probably took the word of whatever assistant was in charge there. And I'd imagine they haven't progressed physically like everybody hoped they would. But remember, they are both only true sophomores. I am more concerned about the punting situation, honestly.

Again, I personally find it disappointing to give up opportunities to create turnovers.

Obviously its not all Miles on this one but man I can go out to any high school put the tee on 35 and say son kick it! If he doesn't put it there 80% of the time, I leave, know what I'm saying! What gives here?

Punting will be ok with Jasper I believe, but man it would be nice to see some SEC teams that have weapons like James and Arenas not get the chance to hurt us and drive the field on our stout D!

how many turnovers on kickoffs would we need to create this year to make up for lack of field position?

T4E, this isn't playstation; teams are lucky to get 1 or 2 fumbles a year on KR!

Very few college, or even pro kickers for that matter, kick the ball into the endzone on kickoffs...the ones that do either have freakishly strong legs or have a strong wind at their back...most can kick line drives to the endzone, but you'd much rather kick the ball to around the 10 with hang time than a line drive to the goal line...kickers with the leg strength you're talking about don't grow on trees.

Appy St. averaged 11 yards per kick return. That combined with the fact that LSU has yet to play the second game of the year doesn't give me cause for concern over field position.

Thanks for the insight.

I was hoping to suggest Les Miles just create a kicker with 99 leg strength.
