I was in the exact same situation with our new place that we bought a few months ago. Nothing is gonna sound like it did hardwired. The Sonos soundbar is good but not anything special. Where they get you is ease of use and connectivity. It sounds decent enough and my wife and kid can work it if I’m not home. I left my 2.1 system for the sun room to blast away in when I can.
ETA: I looked at KEF, Dali, and Yamaha. If the Yamaha soundbar and subwoofer paired better together I might have kept them. The crossover is so damn high it was hard to watch regular tv…my living room has a vaulted ceiling and the sound just boomed everywhere. Cranked up, it sounded great for the price. App not bad either.
