Corporate assets are depreciated hard.
Of course, the company can always appreciate a spare laptop for emergency.
And maybe they may need the laptop more today with chip shortages.
But under normal conditions, it wouldnt shock me if a company doesnt care about a 5 year old laptop (other than maybe confidential/proprietary info stored)

Uhhh, yeah. That’s really the ONLY thing an actual good company really cares about. My company laptop is a complete piece of shite and when they ask me to trade it in over the next year or two, I’m going to request to go full Office Space on it and return it in pieces. Never get a Microsoft Surface.
