West bound traffic going through Orange and east bound traffic on the west side of Beaumont right now is a crap shoot. I passed through there last month and they had both west bound lanes at Orange actually diverted to the service road just past the Orange welcome center. It was terrible.
Headed from Houston back to LA a couple of weeks ago, there was an accident on 10 eastbound in Orange where the road is two narrow lanes, barriers on both sides, no shoulder.
What was the accident you say?
A baw towing a boat on a trailer, his trailer became unattached somehow.
But at least in that stretch, they are working and trying to add lanes (ever so slowly). Whereas in LA, they are making no attempt to fix the "new bridge" traffic meanwhile they are adding unnecessary extra lanes from Lafayette to the basin.

Slowly is an understatement, I looked at Google street views of the construction zone.
A life sized Mariokart track is an understatement. It is more like a death trap with no lane markers.
Now for comparison sake, LA DOTD is rebuilding some bridges on I-10 in New Orleans East, at least they found a way to keep 3 travel lanes but you do have make some tight lane shift curves at 60 MPH or faster depending on your speed (I have seen some cars speed through there) and there is no shoulder with barriers on either side.
My brother has to go to George H W Bush Airport on Wednesday and has to drive through that fun zone. I will be sure to warn him.
504 Road Trips recorded a trip through there back in 2018.
504 Road Trips US 90 West Vinton To Orange Go to 6:45 for construction zone
WTF why is that area always under construction? Is a TxDOTD engineer getting blackmailed by the contractor to keep this area always under construction for doing Aggie things?
