You are in NY? That's WAY COOL!

Turtle Bay is an LSU bar from what I hear. Got the first pitcher of of Abita for the tigerdropping crew that drops by.

U ever been to Turtle Bay? I went for the KY game last season. Its not a bad place. But I wont be going back. Not only because they lost but because there were a bunch of gay dudes doin line dances by the bar. They were also blaring the fight song during time outs when I was trying to hear what the announcers had to say. I'm in NY this week I'll prolly catch it on 360 or smthin tho.

You sure you weren't in Chelsea?

I guess I will have todosge the gay line dancing. If it was a national game I would worry about the announcers a little more. Beer and LSU football can't be that bad!

Its not bad. Most of the reason im not goin is Im painfully superstitious and I dont want a repeat of KY no matter who theyr playing...and my grilfriend wants to go to dinner.

We were in NYC for the opening game (MS State)last year...We went to Turtle Bay. The place was packed wall to wall with purple-and-gold- wearing Tiger fanatics. There weren't any gay guys dancing, but then again, it was so crowded, there wasn't any room!!
I am so jealous that you are in NYC!!! Wear your LSU gear whenever you're out and about...you'll get lots of positive comments from the natives!
Have fun!!!!

I was at Turtle Bay a couple years back when we played Auburn and lost...when they waved off that pass interferece call against Early. It was an awesome time (right up until we lost) even though it was AMAZINGLY packed (it's a pretty huge place for a NYC bar), and they had trouble keeping the beer flowing throughout the game...you'd think they'd be ready for the LSU fans by now. It was really cool to see that large of a contingent of LSU fans in NYC. It was also amazing how many people we ran into that we knew from down here.

Have been living up here for 6 years and its always great to hear a "Geaux Tigers" when you are 1500 miles from home. Will be watching Gameplan from the comfort of my Tiger room and 109 inch TV screen. No line for Abita when its your own bar. GEAUX TIGERS!!!

I'll be there! I'll look out for you even though I have no idea who you are

Unfortunately I won't be there today, but I love going there and hanging with fellow Tiger fans. I'm a family man now so it can be difficult to get there for the game, but I will try to make as many as I can this season.
Enjoy everyone.
Enjoy everyone.

I'll be there! I'll be handing out the cups part of the time. I'll be a 6' white guy with a gold LSUNY polo and a poor excuse for a head of hair that will probably be concealed by a faded purple LSU baseball hat.
For those of you who don't want a wall-to-wall crowd, I don't expect one tonight. Though it's been a while since most have seen LSU football, it's still an OOC cupcake game, so the beer should be flowing nicely.
Anytime LSU is playing an unranked team*, Turtle Bay is fairly navigable.
*unless the unranked team is Alabama, Auburn, Florida, or an SEC East champion playing in Atlanta.

Where's Turtle Bay? I'm staying at Times Square.
Posted on 9/13/08 at 7:31 am to LSULANE
987 2nd Avenue (b/t 52nd/53rd)
You can walk from Times Square to Turtle Bay in like 15 minutes. Or walk over to 42nd/8th and take the E uptown to Lexington/53rd and walk two blocks east, and you're right there. You'll probably see some smokers in p&g.

I am resuscitating this thread to see if anyone is heading to the Turtle to watch the Auburn game on Saturday. I'm trying to go if the wife will let me.

I have been in NYC for almost two years and I just now have heard of this place.
Anyways, I hear it gets wall to wall packed. The game I will be going for (since I have some friends visiting me from Baton Rouge) is for October 11th vs Florida.
My question is... What time is a good time to ensure yourself you get a seat at the bar, in front of the tv?
The Florida Game time is TBA but I will assume it will be primetime at 8 here.
So what time should I get there? 11? 12? 1? to get a seat at the bar.
Thanks in advance and it is cool to see so many Tiger fans up here in NYC.

I was there Saturday night...you need to get there early....the second floor opens an hour before kickoff...the crew i hang out with normally starts arriving an hour before that, we have a couple of beers and some food downstairs and get in front of the line...
it is loud, but it is a helluva lot of fun....
will be back there for Florida....
