The only thing that really turned me off about it was the weapons.. I didn't mind the cooking and stuff like that.. but the weapons breaking really aggravated me for some reason.
I beat two of the beasts and haven't turned it on since.
I think it has more to do with wanting to play more multiplayer games when I do get on to play something than me not liking the game, though.

If I were on the design team for the sequel, literally the only things I would change about how the game plays is that I would make all the weapons other than sticks and bones at least a little more durable, and the good weapons way more durable.
