The problem is that they do not allow debate. There is no reasoning with them and no amount of proof ever changes their minds or even allows them to see that there are rational alternatives. It will take a benevolent act of God to change the situation - or some shooting.

This. And the left is proud to admit they do not debate. I watched Dinesh D'Souza address a college audience and for Q and A a leftist woman asks:
"Why do you believe ______________" and then she launches into a shrieking tirade about conservatives.
He finally interjects: 'Do you want me to answer your question?'
She screams: 'NOOOOOOO!!!!'
I have always said that if your opinion cannot withstand discussion then your opinion is worthless.
