Can anyone offer any areas I can take my two youngest boys to hit a few fish to keep them interested? First time here, and just don’t want to bore them to death trying to locate a bite. I’m a redfish, and speck, guy so it’s been a long while since I’ve had to try to find freshwater fish. Thank you for any help. It’s a huge body of water, and just looking for a general area to snag some bream, or catfish.

I have no idea about where to go to catch fish there in July, but I know you can rent a boat and a guide will take you to catch as many as you want. For what you are describing it may be worth it.

CM2 (Colby) did a good job for friends of mine recently doing exactly what you are describing. I don’t know them and have never fished with them, so that’s second hand.

Housen, Lowes, & Negreet. One of the 3 should get you bit…

Box of worms or crickets and work the trees/stumps/lay downs in 3-6’ of water. Work around just off the banks. Anywhere. When you find some... Stop and sit on them.

catfish

It’s full of them. You’d be better off using a depth finder and locating them in an old submerged creek bend, but you can literally just tightline a worm off the bank/dock and pick up a few for dinner if you start early and wait it out.

Go to the back of Lowes Creek and look for schoolers. I’ve caught them in there during the summer for years. I live in Tennessee now, so have at it. Zoom fluke in Disco Violet color.

Get a guide. Just maneuvering around the lake is a chore without good navigation maps.

That Livescope video was when the fishing was as good as ever.

And Matt does a great job! He for sure works hard to put his clients on fish.
