It's a fantastic movie that we watch every year around this time, but Goldblums character is a huge eco-warrior who bitches about recycling and losing his mind over using nuclear weapons. So there's definitely some of that in the movie.

He did have some character development regarding that though as demonstrated by the joke about getting used to smoking the stogies (not to mention him actually being instrumental in the use of nuclear weapons). Of course, that movie came out at a point where people could still consider different points of view and everybody didn't think anyone who disagreed with them on any points were the devil.

Watched this last evening.

Every damn recycling can he opened to place things in are full of only Coca Cola cans. I laughed my arse off when I noticed this, younger me did not understand product placement back in the day.
