It’s a pretty boring roster considering some of the options that were available

Guess we really don't give a damn about the Gold Cup.

What I want:
Turner
Cannon-Zimmerman-Robinson-Bello
Acosta-Busio
Lletget
Arriola-Dike-Anyone but Zardes

Busio from SKC is a great player and is getting a lot of looks from Europe right now.

Looks like we've taken most of the new guys that may be close to the 1st team roster and paired them the fringe vets to get them up to speed and then to compete to see who falls where on the depth chart heading into WCQ. No real complaints.

Gregg Berhalter notes that Matthew Hoppe will be used as a left winger and Nicholas Gioacchini as a right winger by the #USMNT at the Gold Cup.
The available natural wing options are a bit thin for the Gold Cup so Hoppe and Gioacchini will be used out wide.

This definitely seems like a foot in the door opportunity for some (like Zimmerman) to make the squad that goes to the WCQs.
For others, it seems like potentially a last chance (Guzan) to prove their worth.
In a similar vein to what you mentioned there pvilleguru, I feel like there are some guys that are involved in this squad that may not see WCQs but are meant to groom some younger guys. I’m looking mainly at Lleget in this light. His inclusion in this squad after all the time he has gotten this year makes it seem to me that he is there to help the young guys grow, but won’t be on the WCQ squad.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see. I’m pining for Zimmerman to make the squad and push Miazga for that spot next to Brooks, as McKenzie is good but I don’t think he is quite ready for CONCACAF-level shithousery and ball in general.

I think there just aren't that many good GKs available. Guzan is a great teammate and has a lot of experience that he can pass on to Turner.

Lletget will 100% be on the WCQ squads. But yes, he's likely there to help integrate Busio and Williamson. He can also play on the wing, since there just weren't many good options on the preliminary roster.

Which players did you want to see who weren’t called up?
I know Richards didn’t join because he wants to prepare for the club season. Have to assume the same with a guy like Konrad just joining Marseille

I think everyone wanted Clark, but he just had an appendectomy.

I hope I am wrong, but I feel like Busio will only end up getting sub minutes behind the likes of Roldan and Lleget.

Gregg Berhalter reveals that he had wanted to bring in James Sands to December and January camps, but injury/fitness issues kept him from being included, and noted that those same issues played a role in Sands not being included in Olympic qualifying. #USMNT

I think Busio will play quite a bit. He can play all 3 CM positions.

Berhalter on Julian Araujo: Araujo wasn't ready to commit to the USMNT, but he values the player and could set him competing for a starting role in the future.

Matt Miazga, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Erik Palmer-Brown, Johnny Cardoso and Bryan Reynolds are some of the players Berhalter said he didn't want to take away from their clubs at this point.

I will melt hard if Roldan gets more minutes than Busio. Roldan is C squad level or worse, he shouldn't factor in any going forward.

Is Aaron Long still out?
Where does he fit in when healthy?

Gregg Berhalter on Caden Clark: "It's really unfortunate with the timing of the appendectomy. He's a player I was really looking forward to working with... we know this kid has a bright future." #USMNT
