There is some truth here.
Does this provide some advantage to schools like USC, UCLA, Miami, Notre Dame (Chicago area). Schools in big media markets where it may be much, much easier to line up marketing opportunities.
Alabama players are well known among CFB fans. And there is no doubt Alabama businesses will do whatever is necessary to compensate the best players. But there is only so much marketing opportunity in Alabama as compared to Los Angeles. Now some athletes will be able to transcend the market (ex. The gymnast at LSU who has a zillon social media followers). But those will likely be the exception
