Portland Labor Day weekend

I know, I know, Portland isn’t a desirable destination for a lot of people right now. I’m going for a concert because I like to see new places. Staying downtown in the Rose District. Just looking for recs on anything to see or where to eat while I’m in town. Short two night stay…

Rose district or Rose quarter? The Rose quarter is opposite side of the river from downtown. Either way, Portland is a great town especially if you like craft beer. There are several neighborhoods full of bars, shops and restaurants. N. Alberta street, Hawthorne, Belmont, Pearl District and Nob Hill are all great areas .

Portland, TX?
I think I'd drive the extra 30 mins and hit Rockport or Corpus Christi instead.

Portland is actually an awesome city. One of my favorites. Not sure if I’d stay downtown though, that area is fairly sketchy. Not dangerous but a ton of homeless people. I got an airbnb in a neighborhood and it was great!
I’d definitely make it a priority to at least drive through the Columbia River Gorge and see Multnomah Falls and Hood River, that’s such a beautiful area.

Yes, that's a pretty industrial area but go east (away from the river) about 3 or 4 blocks and you get into more neighborhood areas. Ken's Artisan Pizza is fairly close and great wood fired pizza.

only done a drive thru but it’s a neat place.
we stopped at a food truck park for lunch which was great
I’d like to go back. We stayed in Seattle on the same trip which I hated but Portland and Eugene we really liked

Visit the Japanese Garden. One of the best outside of Japan.

Drive the gorge, go to the beaches, visit the Hood area.

Don't let anyone fool you, Portland is a really cool city with a first class food, drink, and outdoor scene, in a more unique fashion, with influences from all over. The homeless are a problem, but that is what it is. Enjoy.
1. Restuarants - these are particular places I enjoyed while visiting. There are so many options in each neighborhood, you can find something great just walking through the neighborhoods Zappas mentioned above:
- Canard - French style. More causal walk in version to its fancy sister restaurant next door, Le Pigeon. Great food and vibe. Highly recommend.
- Eem Thai - casual and unique Thai spot.
- Find a good spot for ramen. My wife and I went to Yuzu in Beaverton and it was fabulous. Google search through Reddit, etc for recommendations.
- St. Honoré Bakery - incredible French bakery rivaling some of the best pastries and bread I've had. Go to the one on NW Thurman.
- Coava Coffee Roasters. Great coffee.
2. Second the Japanese Gardens in Washington Park. It is an amazing place, and don't miss a walk through of the rose gardens below, if they're still blooming.
3. Breweries galore. I enjoyed Great Notion, Culmination, and Modern Times, especially Culmination for the very laid back neighborhood crowd. Many options to choose from...
4. Seconding the Columbia River Gorge and visiting the various falls. It's a quick hop from Portland if you have time. I particularly liked the short hike up to Upper Horsetail Falls. More intimate and individual experience with the waterfall where you can walk behind the waterfall or into the pond it dumping into - it is impressive. Multnomah is massive, but very busy and can't get as close.

Should of kept going to triple falls. Not much further if memory serves.
