I agree. It's a small group of very loud people who live in a bubble and essentially talk to each other. Twitter acts as a megaphone for this dysfunction and the average person's perception of reality is warped because of this.

It's because the media is lazy. Instead of interviewing someone all you ever see is "So and so tweeted this"
When they want man on the street opinion, it's the same. They just screen shot tweets versus actually talking to someone.
